Tooth powder has gotten lots of attention lately! Thus, true to my curious and investigative nature, I set out to create a tooth powder that was better than the ones I've seen out in the marketplace (cause that's what I do).

I wanted my tooth powder to contain a combination of the best ingredients that would benefit your dental/oral health!

Much of the recent research and studies are discovering that the state of our oral health is intimately connected with the illnesses and diseases that are common in our modern western world.

Why not address the potential source of our diseases - and help to prevent them - by starting to focus more on our dental/oral health?

It certainly makes sense and isn't very difficult to do!

With the mindset of prevention, I focused on ingredients that are antibacterial, kill germs, whiten teeth, and even have re-mineralizing properties!

Several of the ingredients I chose to include in my tooth powder are considered "Ayurvedic." Ayurvedic herbs are used in the practice of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian healing system that focuses on balancing the mind, body, and environment. Ayurvedic medicine aims to prevent illness—rather than respond to disease—by maintaining this balance.

Other ingredients I included in my formulation are more common and modern, such as baking soda.

I personally use my tooth powder EXCLUSIVELY, twice daily. I found that after about 2 weeks of consistent use when I first began using it, my mouth felt fresh, clean and healthy. My teeth now feel extraordinarily smooth when I run my tongue over them. It's obvious that it's removing plaque! I also see a noticeable difference in the color of my teeth - they are whiter and brighter!

I also included Peppermint, Spearmint, Cinnamon, and Wintergreen essential oils that are wonderfully delicious and refreshing (as well as providing some very serious benefits)!

Your teeth will quickly start becoming whiter and brighter, as well!

See below for how to use my Minty Tooth Powder, and a description of each ingredient:

TO USE: Dampen a toothbrush, shake off excess water, and pat the brush into the powder until it is well-coated. Do not get moisture into the powder, as it will cause clumping, and in extreme cases could allow mold or bacteria to grow in the dampened powder. Alternatively, shake a bit of powder into the palm of your hand, and coat the brush there to avoid dampening the entire container.

INGREDIENTS: Salvadora persica (Siwak) Powder, Sodium Bentonite Clay, Magnesium Hydroxide, Azadirachta indica (Neem) Leaf Powder*, Calcium Carbonate, Activated Charcoal (from Coconut), Sodium Bicarbonate, Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice) Root*, Hydroxyapatite, Mentha piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark Oil, Mentha spicata (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Menthyl salicylate (Wintergreen) Oil.  *Organic

Miswak (also known as Siwak) Powder – Made from the powdered root of the Miswak tree (also known as the “toothbrush tree"). Miswak powder is gaining popularity as an Ayurvedic ingredient that performs as well as more traditional ingredients found in common commercial toothpastes. It fights plaque and gum disease; prevents existing tooth decay from worsening; strengthens the enamel in your teeth; and it contains naturally-derived chloride, sodium bicarbonate, and potassium – which all help to re-mineralize teeth.

Bentonite Clay – A natural, non-abrasive tooth polisher that also whitens teeth.

Magnesium Hydroxide – Magnesium is an important ingredient, as it plays a critical role in building strong teeth and bones (so be sure to take a good magnesium supplement, too), therefore helping the re-mineralization process. Magnesium Hydroxide neutralizes acids in the mouth which promotes healthy teeth and gums, as it combats the acidity and inflammation from oral bacteria.

Neem Powder – This is another very beneficial Ayurvedic ingredient that is gaining popularity in the western world. Neem has an amazing cleansing quality, as it is highly antibacterial and antiviral. It’s also anti-inflammatory, which can help with curing mouth ulcers and benefitting inflamed and problematic gum disease. It helps prevent/reduce plaque buildup, as well as addressing gingivitis and periodontitis. Neem has a bitter taste that you might notice when using the tooth powder. However, you’ll be enhancing the immunity in your mouth and also freshening your breath when using the dried powder that comes from the leaves of the Neem tree.

Activated Charcoal – This ingredient is derived from coconut and is a great teeth whitener!

Calcium Carbonate – Contributes to tooth remineralization, a natural process where your body repairs tooth enamel by depositing calcium and phosphate minerals from saliva onto the enamel surface. Bacteria and mouth acid (from eating and drinking acidic foods and beverages) contribute to demineralization, which often leads to the formation of cavities.

Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) – A gentle, yet effective, cleaner that scrubs away surface stains without damaging enamel. Neutralizes acidic components that can stain teeth. Whitens teeth.

Licorice Root Powder – Improves symptoms related to bad breath, cavities, and tooth decay. Reduces inflammation and pain in the mouth. Strengthens oral tissues. Kills bacteria and fungus.

Hydroxyapatite - Can help stop cavities from forming and fixes damaged teeth. Strengthens teeth and helps them look brighter. Resists acidic pH. Improves gum health.

Peppermint, Cinnamon, Spearmint and Wintergreen Essential Oils – These oils have antibacterial and antifungal properties that can reduce tooth decay and dental plaque. I also included them in my formulation because they have a cooling, minty taste you'll love!
